It is with unalloyed pleasure that
I take this opportunity to send my message to the
souvenir published by Sri Lanka Islamic Student’s
Movement on the occasion of its 12th national youth
convention in September 2005.
I am delighted to see the unwavering
progress of this movement since its birth till today,
and it is indeed heartening to look at its future
with hope and confidence that today it successfully
completes its 25th year.
Being a wing of Sri Lanka Jama’athe
Islami, Sri Lanka Islamic Student’s Movement
has been playing a key role in guiding the Muslim
students and keeping them intact without deviating
from the way of Islam. Having a membership of around
1100 at present, this movement marches forward with
numerous fruitful programs designed exclusively
for students.
It is an undeniable fact that the
student force is more powerful than any other forces
in a country, and it is mighty enough to determine
the good and the bad of a nation. Once such a force
is blessed to be guided well in the right path,
the whole nation is guided well and correctly. That
was why students became a focal point for Sri Lanka
Jama’athe Islami, and it formed a separate
arm to focus on them fully.
For an organization to survive for 25 consecutive
years is not an easy task. It is first Allah’s
mercy and then sincere assiduity of the people attached
to it that contribute to its existence for such
a long time. Excellent planning, effective contribution
by the members, efficient leadership, discipline,
obedience to the leadership, give and take approach,
etc. are some other contributing factors to the
longevity of an institution.
At a time when Sri Lanka Islamic
Student’s Movement is holding its 12th national
youth convention to mark its 25th anniversary, I
wish to join the top brass and the rank and file
of this movement in their joy. I pray to Almighty
Allah for its past and present members to be rewarded
well and for it to live for years and years.
