Another bright morning has dawned
with the ever lasting memories of Prophet Ibraheem
(Alaihis salaatu wassalaam), his beloved son Ismaeel
(Alaihis salaatu wassalaam) and their sentiments
about the sacrifice they were about to perform.
The message that Eid Al-Adh-ha
brings to us every year is tolerance - the attitude
of Ismaeel (Alaihis salaatu wassalaam) when he heard
about his father’s determination to sacrifice
him for the sake of Allah as directed by him. This
sacrifice and tolerance of Prophet Ibraheem (Alaihis
salaatu wassalaam) and his son are expected from
every Muslim in every aspect of his life.
It is, indeed, the sacrifice of
a family - the family of Ibraheem (Alaihis salaatu
wassalaam) that makes Eidul Adh-ha such a unique
one.
The Holy Qur-aan declares in many
a verse Prophet Ibraheem (Alaihis salaatu wassalaam)
a true Muslim who submitted himself to his Creator.
Submission to Allah in everything at all times and
everywhere is what Islam is. Al-Qur-aan is pregnant
with verses dealing with the life of Ibraheem (Alaihis
salaatu wassalaam). Let them receive the full attention
of all Muslims on this happy day.
On this day of joy and rejoicing,
let us remember the hospitality, a great attribute
Ibraheem (Alaihis salaatu wassalaam) was adorned
with. The rich hospitality which characterized his
life is well recorded in the annals with a pet name
“Father of Guests”.
I, on my behalf and on behalf of
All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, warmly wish all the
Muslim brothers and sisters bright and cheerful
Eidul Adh-ha.
May the elation of Eid spread across
the globe and unite the Muslims in piety and peace!
May Allah stir in their hearts true brotherly love
in the spirit of Islam!
Eid Mubaarak!
