Eid Al-Fitr – A.H. 1426 A.D. 2005

Eid Al-Fitr Message of Ash-Shaikh H. Abdul Nazar,
General Secretary of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama

It gives me great pleasure in greeting the Muslim brothers and sisters on my behalf and on behalf of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama when all celebrate Eid Al-Fitr; completing the month long practice in the camp of Ramadhan in the Islamic year of Hijri 1426.

Eid Al-Fitr, the festival of charity, has downed whilst more and more wounded hearts across the world weep and shed silent tears over the calamities caused by constant earthquakes and pandemics than when the Muslim Ummah celebrated its Eid Al-Adh-ha, the festival of sacrifice in the early part of this year.

The world, nowadays, encounters unprecedented trial and tribulations in the forms of tidal wave, earthquakes, torrential rains, hurricanes and deadly epidemics, and it looms large that as if there going to be no one to extend helping hand to an affected one as day by day, country after country, fall prey to such sorrowful happenings.

It is the time for the humankind especially for the Muslim Ummah to be more and more patient, as Allah Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an that:

“And we shall surely test you with aught of fear and hunger and loss in riches, lives and fruits, and bear thou glad tidings to the patient.” (2:155)

And he further says how the people who happen to encounter such misfortunes, act:

“Who, when an affliction afflicts them, say: “surely we belong to Allah, and surely to Him we shall return.” (2:156)

Let us be patient and seek refuge from Almighty Allah and help, as far as we could, to the suffering people during this Eid.

“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar”
